One of the great strengths of the UAEU is its ability to address the significant challenges that face today's modern United Arab Emirates, through the research activities of its faculty. Research at UAEU has contributed significantly to the country’s development in many areas, ranging from water resources, petroleum resources, solar and other forms of renewable energy, to medical advancement as well significant social and economic activities.
Since the establishment of the UAEU, its faculty have engaged in research activities that have taken this university to a ranking as #1 Research University in the GCC Countries, the #2 Research University in the Arab World, # 9 Research University in the Muslim World and the #370 among Research Universities worldwide.
H.E. the Chancellor Nahayan Mubarak Al Nahayan put a great emphasis on the role of research in his 2012 Convocation speech, when he said, “Our research mission leads us to consider the University’s role in promoting innovation in society, its role in identifying priority issues for research, its responsibility to establish research centers and technology parks, its commitment to serve the needs of society, and its connections to major universities and research centers around the world”.
