Japanese Ambassador Attends Japanese Culture Day at UAEU
engthening the distinctive relations between United Arab Emirates and Japan, H.E. Yoshihiko Kamo, Japan Ambassador in the UAE and his wife inaugurated the opening of the Japanese Day event at United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) and presented the traditional cloths and heritage of Japan. The event was organized by the Japanese Embassy in collaboration with Japanese Sakura Students Club at UAEU and was attended by the Japanese expat community, faculty members and students.
H.E. the Japanese Ambassador commenced the ceremony by expressing his appreciation to UAEU for hosting such events which consolidates the relations between the two countries and helps build relations between UAE and Japan students. "There are common characteristic between Emirati and Japanese people which include adherence to tradition, heritage and culture and their success to combine and maintain present and past. Therefore, celebrating the Japanese heritage in UAE, specially at UAEU campus, is a great opportunity to showcase the common attributes and values. I'm very glad to see a keen interest from the UAE students in the Japanese cultural and I am honoured to learn about the active Sakura Club at UAEU."
Ms. Mako Hattori, the famous Japanese actress, presented a lecture about the traditional Japanese dress "Kimono". She described the different types of the dress which are related to seasons and occasions. The famous actress showed the students how to wear the "Kimono" which is a very modest dress in adiition to presenting a Japanese traditional dance called "Nihon Buyo" acting different scenes from the Japanese history and traditions during the dance.
The students expressed their happiness for organizing such events which allowed them to gain further insight into the Japanese way of life. Ms. Eman Al Shamsi, student, said "Japan has a great civilization and is very proud of its tradition and heritage despite its technological development. Therefore, it is good to explore this culture and develop relations with the Japanese people.”
Ms. Noura Al Shamsi and Ms. Nouf Al Blooshi, students at Sakura Club, praised the beauty of the Japanese dress "Kimono" and said, "It is a very elegant dress and carries a lot of meanings. The Club intends to strengthen its relations with Japan through students, academic and research exchange, tours and other various activities between the UAEU and Japanese Universities."
