United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) welcomed 404 new students enrolled for the second semester during the student orientation "Marhaba Alssaa!", held at the new UAEU campus in Maqam, Al Ain. The orientation was attended by H.E. Dr. Ali Rashid Al Noaimi, UAEU Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mohamed Yousif Baniyas, Provost, as well as Deans of Colleges, faculty, staff and students.
During his welcoming speech, H.E. Vice Chancellor conveyed the regards of H.H. Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, UAEU Chancellor, to the students wishing them success and distinction in their university life. Dr. Al Noami stated, " As an incoming graduate student you are uniquely prepared and equally ready to embark on a rewarding journey, and this journey will have a profound and lasting impact on you beyond your tenure at UAEU. This day is a new stage that may change your life. The academic and administrative atmosphere of the university is established to serve students and their needs. You are responsible from the first day of your academic life. Your success means the university has been successful in helping you achieve your aspirations and preparing you for a higher level. You now represent an important element of the University, and therefore, University's policies and bylaws are implemented for your sake".
"Adherence to the policies and bylaws is required to continue to be successful in your studies as well as self-reliance and active involvement in the educational process. I want you to realise that your Grade Point Average (GPA) will be always in your transcript and no one can improve it other than you, which will require effort and hard work. I would like to remind you to adhere to instructions, hold on to spiritual values and attitude as you represent a society that is proud of its great values and moralities”, Dr. Al Noami added.
The orientation was attended by 404 students with 206 males and 238 females according to the list approved by H.H. Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan. The gathering included comic play by students presenting university life starting from admission right through to graduation and a numbers of senior students contributed in advising the new students by answering their inquiries in order to facilitate their academic journey.
All students at UAEU will enjoy a number of benefits including access to a state-of-the-art campus and facilities, world-class research centres and free iPads. Throughout the orientation week, students will be given the opportunity to explore the campus, visit the student accommodation, classrooms, laboratories, research centres and libraries.
