2851 College of Engineering Students Complete Internship
Prof. Reyadh Almehaideb, Dean of College of Engineering at United Arab Emirates University(UAEU) attended the closing ceremony of the internship program with the presence of Dr. Hend Saeed Alqamzi, Head of Industrial Training & Graduation Projects Unit, Head of Departments, faculty members along with 53 representatives from industrial organizations across the UAE.
The number of students that have competed the internship program since its implementation at the College of Engineering has increased to 2851 students. A total of 68 male and 79 female students completed their 4 month internships for this academic semester.
Prof. Reyadh Almehaideb presented certificates to the industrial representatives to show appreciation of their support and cooperation in allowing UAEU students to gain practical experience in the industrial field and highlighted that this experience is an integral part in the students’ study plan.
At the closing ceremony students submitted a final report and presentation of their projects which was judged by a jury panel. Completing the industrial training program is compulsory for the student in order to progress to senior student level at the College.
Dr. Alqamzi said, “The program aims to provide the students with the technical knowledge and raise the professional awareness of students to develop communication and project management skills which may not be achieved to their full potential within an academic environment. Therefore, cooperation with industrial companies is necessary to expose students to the best technical environment.”
The list of participating companies consisted of 240 major private industrial companies and 128 public organizations. The Training Unit at the College of Engineering continuously seeks to find new well-known and professional companies to provide more opportunities for the students.
The participating industrial companies get the opportunity to build relationships and identify the strong candidates and potential future employees.
