Content Evaluation Process

Criteria for Inclusion in ProQuest Products

All potential new content is evaluated by ProQuest to select appropriate fit among ProQuest library and academic products. This evaluation is based on extensive market research among librarians and educators, rankings of publications by external discipline specialists, thorough examination of the current indexing of publications, and assess how best to source content from your site, e.g. hard copy, electronic feed, etc.

  • Editorial/Product Teams – to select appropriate “fit” among ProQuest library and academic products. This evaluation is based on:
    • extensive market research among librarians and educators
    • rankings of publications by external discipline specialists
    • thorough examination of the current indexing of publications, including
      • ProQuest proprietary indexes (such as Periodical Abstracts, ABI/INFORM, and Accounting & Tax)
      • other major commercial indexes (such as those produced by H. W. Wilson, BIOSIS, the National Library of Medicine (NLM) (Index Medicus/Medline), and
      • other highly regarded indexing entities
  • Manufacturing Teams – to assess how best to source content from your site, e.g. hard copy, electronic feed, etc.
